At the beginning of the special sitting of the National Assembly, the lawmakers observed a minute of silence in memory of the servicemen who died for Artsakh.
Afterwards, in the second reading, the parliament fully discussed the draft amendments to the laws "On Local Self-Government" and "On Local Self-Government in Yerevan" submitted by the Government.
Vache Terteryan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, said that there were no proposals during the first to second readings, and called for voting in favor of the projects.
In the second reading and fully, the parliament voted in favor of both drafts.
It should be noted that the legislative changes are conditioned by the need to form volunteer army brigades in Armenia, to carry out those works in a systematic and effective way.
According to the drafts, the local self-government bodies will have new deputies, who will be in charge of organizing the volunteer army brigades and supervising the brigades of volunteer army. In the case of Yerevan, it is also proposed to increase the number of deputy mayors from 3 to 4. He will be exclusively and directly engaged in organizing and managing the volunteer army brigades.
