During the European Cultural Convention meeting of Member States Ministers by Armenian deputy ministers of education Artur Martorosyan and Narine Khachatryan was presented the Azeri war crimes committed with direct support from Turkey since September 27.
They urged to strictly condemn Turkish-Azeri large-scale aggression that brought about destruction of educational and cultural institutions and breached learner’s right to education. The evidence also included shelling of st. Saviour cathedral in Shoushi, a masterpiece of Armenian architecture, rocketfire on Stepanakert maternity hospital on October 28 - war crimes by Azeri-Turkish-terrorist coalition.
Armenian deputy minister Artur Martirosyan outlined the measures undertaken to ensure continuity of education. He also noted that Azerbaijan is the first and only state to launch war during coronavirus global pandemic.
"Intentional destruction of cultural values is a war crime. Any assault on civilian infrastructure, historical and cultural monuments is to be condemned by international community. The decision to rocketfire maternity hospital may not be made in a civilized and high-cultured society. Civilized world has to comprehend that", the deputy minister Narine Khachatryan said.
She outlined the measures to neutralize the climate impact on cultural monuments within the framework of Armenia’s 2020-2025 strategy on cultural heritage preservation. The conference was also attended by UNESCO deputy director Stephania Ganini, ministers, deputy ministers and officials from around 30 countries.
The purpose of the meeting was discussion and European experience exchange concerning COVID-19 impact on education and the influence of climate change on cultural heritage.
