On October 30, the RA Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met in Geneva with the President of the ICRC Peter Maurer. The meeting focused on the situation caused by the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone, according to the RA MFA.
Zohrab Mnatsakanyan briefed the ICRC President on Azerbaijan's war crimes against the people of Artsakh and gross violations of international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Convention. The Minister also briefed his interlocutor on the facts of deliberate targeting of the civilian population and infrastructure of Artsakh by the Azerbaijani armed forces and the resulting damage, use of weapons prohibited by international conventions, humiliating treatment of prisoners of war, torture and murder of them.
The Foreign Minister also stressed that Turkey's direct military participation in the war unleashed by Azerbaijan and the import of foreign armed terrorists from the Middle East is a serious threat to the regional and international security.
The ICRC President highlighted the importance diplomatic efforts aimed at implementing the ceasefire agreement and the agreement on the exchange of bodies.
