On October 22, the Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan started his working visit to the United States. The same day, the meeting between the Foreign Minister and the US Deputy Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker took place.
Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that the visit is taking place during a hard period for Armenia and the region. Azerbaijan has unleashed a large-scale war against Artsakh, which is accompanied by deliberate targeting of the civilian population and infrastructure of Artsakh, which in their scope and nature are war crimes, aimed at the extermination of the indigenous people of Artsakh.
Mnatsakanyan stressed the direct involvement of Turkey in the Azerbaijani aggression, which is manifested in both direct military participation and the transfer of foreign armed terrorists from the Middle East to Azerbaijan: That poses a serious threat to regional security and peace.
Both sides stressed the need for the immediate implementation of ceasefire agreements. In this context, Mnatsakanyan highlighted the unity of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries in this issue. He also reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to the October 10 and 17 agreements and the establishment of a stable ceasefire maintained by verification mechanisms.
