Armen Sarkissian, the President of the Republic of Armenia, who is in Brussels on working visit, met today with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Secutiy Policy Josep Borrell.
The President Sarkissian spoke in detail about the large-scale military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the Artsakh Repiblic since September 27, the targeting of Artsakh settlements, civilians and civilian infrastructure by the Azerbaijani armed forces.
Sarkissian mentioned that all this is happening on the conditions of Turkey's direct and indirect involvment. That is reflected in introduction of islamists militants in the region which is serious threat to the regional and international security.
Josep Borrell expressed deep concern over the curent state of hostilities. He stressed the need to defuse tensions, cease fire and return to the negotiating table co-chaired by the OSCE Minsk Group.
