The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) has sent a letter to the US State Department urging to suspend sales of military equipment used in Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones to Turkey.
The letter sent to the US Assistant Secretary of State for Political and Military Affairs states that a large number of Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones stationed in Azerbaijan were used to attack and kill civilians in both Artsakh and Armenia.
"It is obvious that Turkey, in response to Canada's decision to suspend its arms export license on October 5, 2020 in connection with Azerbaijan's ongoing attacks on Artsakh and Armenia, is trying to circumvent this ban by asking the United States to speed up permission to sell equipment for Bayraktar TB2.
Turkey's demands must be rejected, and the United States must completely ban the sale or transfer of any US military or dual-use equipment to Ankara as long as it is arming or otherwise supporting Azerbaijani attacks.
In addition, the State Department should immediately investigate possible violations of the Arms Export Control Act and other violations of U.S. law related to unauthorized third-party sales”, the letter reads.
