The RA President Armen Sarkissian sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of the birthday of the Governor-General of Canada Julie Payet.
Armen Sarkissian expressed confidence that due to joint efforts, the cooperation between Armenia and Canada will continue to develop and deepen both bilaterally and multilaterally.
He referred to the resumption of hostilities against the Artsakh Republic by Azerbaijan, noting in particular: "As you know, the Artsakh Republic was subjected to an unprecedented, brutal and inhumane attack by Azerbaijan, which targeted both civilians and civilian infrastructure. The purpose of all this is to cleanse Artsakh from the Armenians once and for all.
The instigator and direct player in this barbaric behavior of Azerbaijan is Turkey, which is purposefully trying to implement the plan adopted more than a hundred years ago - to exterminate the Armenians as a nation.
Canada, which is well aware of this fact, has recognized the Armenian Genocide, and today it was found to be principled and humane, suspending its license to provide military equipment to Turkey. I take this opportunity to thank the Government of Canada for this decision", the President's message reads.
