UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors sent a letter to the head of the organization. World-famous Armenian football player Henrikh Mkhitaryan made a post on his Facebook page and published the letter. The Goodwill Ambassadors call for peace and urge the UN to take action now.
In particular, the letter states about the atrocities happening in Artsakh, which grossly violate human rights, are opposed to the UN Convention on Human Rights and international humanitarian law. This is not just an attack on Armenians, but on the basic norms of humanity.
The letter emphasizes that there are killed and injured among the civilian population, particularly among the children. Special reference was made to the condition of 15-year-old Robert and 2-year-old Artsvik, who are in a coma and are under serious threat.
As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, the authors of the letter call on UNICEF to raise its voice, reach out and take steps to prevent further bloodshed.
The letter was signed by UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors Nouneh Sarkissian, Alla Levonyan, Maria Gulegina, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Arthur Aleksanyan.
