On October 15, the RA Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan had a telephone conversation with United Nations Secretary-general Antonio Guterres.
The Minister presented to the UN Secretary-general the situation caused as a result of the unprecedented large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh. In this context, Mnatsakanyan expressed his deep concern over the deliberate targeting of the civilian population and infrastructure of the Artsakh population by the Azerbaijani armed forces with the use of weapons of various calibers.
During the conversation, Zorab Minister Mnatsakanyan noted that Azerbaijan to this day didn't fulfill the agreement reached at the ministerial level on the ceasefire on October 10, and continues to target the civilian population, causing human losses. The Minister Mnatsakanyan also stressed the inadmissibility of Azerbaijani provocative actions against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.
He also expressed deep concern over Turkey's involvement in the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan, which is reflected in its direct military involvement in the transfer of foreign armed terrorists from the Middle East to Azerbaijan, which poses a serious threat to regional security and peace.
According to Minister Mnatsakanyan, Azerbaijan's actions emphasize the existential threat to the people of Artsakh and make it imperative for the international community to engage in active efforts to neutralize it, as well as through the recognition of the Artsakh people's right to self-determination and the right to live freely and with dignity in its historical homeland.
The UN Secretary-general expressed concern over recent developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, stressing the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the resumption of talks on a settlement of the issue.
