The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Rustam Badasyan made a post on Facebook, informing that the Government has launched the initiative to ratify the UN International Convention against the Recruitment, Use, Financing and Training of Mercenaries.
For that purpose, the Government applied to the Constitutional Court to determine the compliance of the obligations stipulated in the international treaty with the RA Constitution, then it will apply to the National Assembly.
The Convention prohibits the recruitment, training, use and financing of mercenaries. More than 30 countries have joined it, including Azerbaijan.
States that have ratified the Convention recognize that the activities of mercenaries are a crime, those who commit them must either be prosecuted or extradited.
