At the joint press conference of the Russian and Armenian Foreign Ministers, in response to a journalist's question, Sergei Lavrov referred to the statement of the President of Azerbaijan that Turkey should play a more active role in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Russian Foreign Minister stated that the document, which was agreed in Moscow on Saturday, clearly states that the format of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is unchangeable.
"There are many OSCE member countries, but the powers to deal with this issue have been delegated to three of them - Russia, France, the United States - and all the recent statements have been made on behalf of the three countries", he said.
Lavrov clarified that when they talk about the immutability of the format, they adhere to the principles developed by the co-chairs.
The Russian Foreign Minister said that in a conversation with his Turkish counterpart Cavusoglu, the latter has confirmed that he supports those efforts.
The RA Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stressed that the Armenian side supports the current format, emphasizing that it is the only format for the peaceful settlement, which has never aroused suspicion for the Armenian side.
"We will keep on working in that format. However, what is happening in Artsakh has a serious impact on our work. Peaceful settlement remains our stance, while Azerbaijan has chosen to resolve the issue by force and denies a peaceful settlement," he said.
As for Turkey's involvement in the hostilities, Mnatsakanyan said that Turkey's active participation is manifested in the presence of terrorists in our region, which cannot be welcomed.
