Addressing the faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican after the traditional Sunday Liturgy, Pope Francis expressed hope that the humanitarian ceasefire in Karabakh would save lives.
"I welcome the humanitarian ceasefire reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and I hope it will provide an opportunity to conclude a comprehensive peace agreement", he said.
"The ceasefire is fragile, unstable, but I urge the parties to maintain it, to resume negotiations, to save lives, to end suffering, to stop the destruction of homes and places of worship", the Pope noted, adding:
"I pray for this and I urge you to join me in praying together for the dead and in need".
