The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Artsakh Republic has issued a statement presented below.
"Recent statements by the President of Azerbaijan that the resumption of hostilities does not mean a renunciation of the negotiation process, and that official Baku continues to consider the people of Artsakh as its citizens, are the highest manifestation of cynicism.
Such statements show that the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan lives in a fantasy world detached from reality. Without realizing that their ambitions towards Artsakh are illegitimate and illusory, the Azerbaijani authorities will not be able to break through the vicious circle in which they appeared due to their anti-Armenian propaganda, attempts to retell the history of the region, and biased interpretation of international law.
First of all, the citizens of the Artsakh Republic have been living in an independent, sovereign state since 1991 with no political or legal ties with Azerbaijan. Baku has long lost the moral right to call the people of Artsakh its citizens. And after the unleashing of Azerbaijan's armed aggression against the Artsakh Republic on 27 September 2020, during which the Azerbaijani army targeted and used prohibited weapons against the civilian population, including cluster munitions, such statements by Baku simply became senseless.
Second, by unleashing another aggressive war, again trying to resolve the conflict through the use of force, Azerbaijan has nullified all the efforts of the international mediators, the elaboration of the peace process.
"In the current situation, there is only one way out - the international recognition of the independence of the Artsakh Republic, which will ensure long-term peace and stability in the region, as well as exclude attempts by Azerbaijan to unleash another war, prevent the Baku authorities from committing new crimes against humanity".
