The CSTO will provide military assistance to Armenia during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the case of a real threat to its territorial integrity or a direct military attack. The statement came from CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas, Interfax reports.
"Two thresholds must be considered. The first is when there are real threats to the territorial integrity, sovereignty, stability and security of any of the CSTO member states. In this case it has the right to apply to the CSTO, the mechanism of interstate consultations, including emergency consultations, is set up and the country is provided with the necessary assistance or support at the request of that state", CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas told reporters.
"The second case is aggression, that is, a military attack which is considered aggression against all our states. In that case, at the request of the country, any kind of assistance is provided to the object of aggression, including military aid. In such cases, the CSTO response mode is launched", Stanislav Zas said.
