During the briefing, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova referred to the recent tensions in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, noting that Russia continues active mediation efforts, both at the national level and within the OSCE Minsk Group, aimed at the immediate cessation of hostilities and the resumption of negotiations.
Zakharova cited a joint statement by the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, Russia, France and the United States, as joint evidence in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"On October 2, 5 and 7 Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in Nagorno Karabakh with the Armenian Prime Minister. He discussed the same issue also during a telephone call with the President of Azerbaijan on October 7. And Russian FM Sergey Lavrov is in constant contact with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan," Zakharova said.
According to the official representative of the Russian MFA, Russia is developing various mechanisms of actions, including the provision of a Moscow platform for the meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, co-chaired by the Minsk Group.
