On October 6, the Dutch Parliament passed a resolution by an overwhelming majority, calling on the government to take immediate action against Azerbaijan and Turkey to end the Azerbaijani-Karabakh war, the NKR Foreign Ministry reported.
After discussing the issue the Parliament recorded:
▪ The conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh on the European border is heating up,
▪ The EU is negotiating the strengthening of partnership and cooperation;
▪ The number of victims, including the civilian population is growing;
▪ Turkey is provoking the war from the Azerbaijani side, noting, in particular, the aggressive rhetoric of Baku and Ankara, calling on the government to insist at the forthcoming EU summit that the conclusions should include an immediate ceasefire;
As part of the call, the Dutch Parliament appeals to the government to clearly address the states involved in the aggression, taking into account President Aliyev's publicly invasive statements. They claim that Azerbaijan bears the greatest responsibility in this issue, the latter needs to be submitted an ultimatum. If necessary, this should have implications for the support provided under the EU Eastern Partnership program. They call on Armenia and Azerbaijan to respect international law, to negotiate in good faith".
The author of the resolution is Martijn van Helvert, the speaker of the coalition Christian-Democratic Party.
