The RF President Vladimir Putin has stated that the events in Nagorno Karabakh are a tragedy, and that they are very concerned. Putin has confirmed that Russia is ready to fulfill its allied obligations to Armenia. According to the Russian leader, he is in constant contact with the RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Россия24 reports.
"It is a tragedy, we are very worried, since Azerbaijan, Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh are all territories where people are not strangers to us. About 2 million Azerbaijanis and more than 2 million Armenians live in Russia. Many Russian citizens have friendly, even family ties with the two republics. Of course, it is a great tragedy, people are dying, there are great losses on both sides. We hope that this conflict will be resolved very soon. But if it is not fully resolved, judging by the situation, this is still a long way to go, in any case, we call for a ceasefire once again. And it should be done as soon as possible.
As it is known, Armenia is a member of the CSTO, and we have clear obligations to Armenia under that agreement. Unfortunately, hostilities continue to this day, but they are not carried out in the territory of Armenia. As for Russia's CSTO treaty obligations, we have always fulfilled and will fulfill our obligations.
As you know, I am in constant communication with the Prime Minister of Armenia and the Armenian authorities are not doubtful about the quality of fulfillment of Russia's allied obligations", said the Russian President.
