Hundreds of Australian-Armenians have arrived in the capital Canberra, urging the government to raise the issue of hostilities against Armenian territory, calling them a war crime. This was reported by The Guardian. About 500 Armenians gathered near the Azerbaijani embassy.
"Call the attack an attack, call the aggressor an aggressor, and in the same way call Turkey an encourager and supporter", said Hayk Kayseryan, head of the Armenian National Committee in Australia, adding: "Canberra cannot be in a waiting position when hundreds of innocent peace-loving people are killed on Armenian land".
Last week Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne expressed concern and called on the parties to show restraint and support negotiations aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the conflict.
