The French President Emmanuel Macron has called unacceptable Turkey's "belligerent" rhetoric, which encourages Azerbaijan to reconquer Nagorno-Karabakh. At the same time, Macron noted that at this stage there is no evidence of direct involvement of Turkey in the conflict, Reuters reports.
"France is extremely concerned about the recent belligerent messages from Turkey, which, in fact, give Azerbaijan freedom to recapture Nagorno-Karabakh. And we will not allow that", Macron added.
Turkish President Tayip Erdogan said on Monday that Azerbaijan "should take the situation into its own hands" and "Turkey will continue to support Azerbaijan with all its resources and heart".
The President of France expressed his support to Armenia and Armenians. "I address my words again to Armenia and Armenians. France will remain faithful to its role and we will be vigilant, respecting families, people, sovereignty. We will not tolerate any attempt at aggravation.
It is recorded that the shootings were from Azerbaijan. I demanded an immediate end to the attack and strongly condemned, in my opinion, these disproportionate actions. Everyone must return to the ceasefire. I support the families of the victims". said Macron.
He also noted he would discuss the issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday and with US President Donald Trump on Thursday.
