CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas expressed serious concern over the resumption of the armed conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh on September 27, during which there were casualties on both sides, including among the civilian population. The ceasefire was violated, heavy military equipment was used, including artillery, tanks, planes, as well as drones.
The current situation does not contribute to implementation of the 1994 ceasefire agreement and mutual commitments not to use force within the framework of the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
It is necessary to immediately restore the ceasefire regime and return to the negotiation process carried out by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. The settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is possible only through political and diplomatic methods, Zas said.
