Evaluating the court's decision to detain Tsarukyan as "illegal", the statement claims that what happened is "obviously political revenge against the leader of the largest parliamentary opposition force and the PAP". "It is obvious that Gagik Tsarukyan is now a political prisoner", the authors of the statement note and continue.
"The government, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, two and a half years after the revolution, recording obvious failures in all spheres, is trying to silence the opposition with dirty political revenge, giving an order to the the most obedient judge to arrest Gagik Tsarukyan.
"Many PAP figures, deputies, heads of territorial structures are being targeted by the government, who are being obviously politically persecuted under the guise of fake legal processes", the statement also reads, in which the PAP Political Council assures that together with their like-minded political forces they will continue the struggle "for the solution of the problems of our country and citizens".
