The Russian service of the BBC touched upon the widespread gatherings of reservists in Azerbaijan. The website also reported that pickup trucks were being confiscated from people.
The media outlet spoke with one of the Azeris participating in the gathering. He informed the source that he was called from the military commissariat, but was immediately taken to a gathering when he came. The State Service for Mobilization and Conscription of Azerbaijan informed that this initiative is a regular gathering, during which the reservists develop military skills.
BBC also referred to the widespread seizures of pickup trucks that have recently begun. The interior ministry said the pickup trucks were being taken "for the purpose of diagnosing vehicles so that they could provide timely, quality and complete support to the armed forces".
Azerbaijani experts are reluctant to comment on the events. British expert Laurence Broers told the BBC that Azerbaijan and Armenia are not interested in resuming a full-scale war. "In July of this year and in April of 2016 we saw that the terrain and landscape did not allow large-scale hostilities. Small-scale escalation is more likely", the expert said.
