The RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan participates in the 64th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) being held in Vienna on September 21-25.
On September 21, within the framework of the conference, Minister Papikyan delivered a
speech. The Minister praised the IAEA assistance in supporting the fight against the pandemic.
Papikyan expressed his deep concern over the threat posed by Azerbaijan to launch a missile strike on the Armenian NPP, noting that Armenia views it as a real threat.
According to Armenian Minister, for the first time the real threat to the security of the nuclear power plant comes not from a terrorist organization, but from a state. This threat is nothing but a crime against humanity and should be responded to by the international community, he said.
In his speech, Suren Papikyan also referred to the operation of the second power unit of the Armenian NPP, emphasizing that nuclear energy has a key role in Armenia's energy development program.
