Today the National Assembly adopted in the second reading and in full the bill submitted by the deputies of "My Step" faction, which proposes to criminalize the direct and public incitement of genocide.
121 deputies voted for the draft amendments to the RA Criminal Code. The draft stipulates that direct and public incitement to genocide is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 8 to 10 years.
The same act committed through the mass media or through a computer system, with the prior consent of a group of persons, is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 10 to 14 years.
The same act committed by an organized group, using official position, is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 14 to 20 years or life imprisonment.
The draft law on making amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia got 100 votes in favor at the June 18 sitting of the National Assembly and was adopted in the first reading.
