On September 17, The RA Minister of Defense David Tonoyan received Claire Meytraud, Head of the delegation of ICRC in Armenia.
Tonoyan referred to the videos circulating in the Azerbaijani media about Gurgen Alaverdyan and expressed the concern of the Ministry about their content to the head of the ICRC Yerevan office.
The Minister noted that the obstruction of the permission of the Azerbaijani authorities to visit Gurgen Alaverdyan by the representatives of the ICRC Baku Office is a gross violation of the internationally enshrined rights and commitments made by Azerbaijan within the framework of international humanitarian law.
In her turn, the head of the ICRC Yerevan office assured that the ICRC delegation is taking all necessary steps to ensure the procedures stemming from the status of Gurgen Alaverdyan and Armenians on the Azerbaijani side.
