The RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the indicators of coronavirus infection at the Government sitting, noting that the situation is worrying.
Pashinyan stressed that the number of people infected with coronavirus has exceeded 200 in recent days. "The number of infected people was 257 the day before, 295 yesterday. It is true that the detection rate is high, that is, the number of tests is large, 4135 tests were done the day before, 4319 tests yesterday. During the hardest period of the pandemic, the maximum number of daily tests did not reach 3,000. Nevertheless, the situation is worrying. I think we should draw everyone's attention to this issue", said the Prime Minister.
The Deputy Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan clarified that the number of infected people is large, as there are many tests. "But we see a percentage increase in testing, today it is about 7%, which is worrying for us", said the Deputy Minister, adding that according to their analysis, this increase is due to the activation of the pre-school period, that is the movement, trade growth. "In the next two weeks we will see what results we register after the opening the schools, how the curve is going", said the Deputy Minister. According to her, although the state of emergency is over, anti-epidemic restrictions are in place and safety rules must be strictly observed.
"We have one proven tool to fight the coronavirus, and that tool is a mask. The conditions for wearing a mask must be strictly observed," said Prime Minister Pashinyan. He instructed the Chief of Police to be consistent. No policeman should be indifferent to a citizen who does not wear a mask, of course, while fully preserving the rule of law and the dignity of citizens", the Prime Minister instructed.
Pashinyan also spoke about Armenia's healthcare capacity. "As the numbers decrease, we're pulling back on health system capacity, in the sense that hospitals that used to be overloaded with coronavirus patients, are now back to normal. But now they are ready to resume full coronavirus service at any time", Pashinyan said, adding:
"When we see what is happening in other countries, I am convinced that our strategy is to live with the coronavirus without the strictest restrictions is right. But it is possible when our healthcare institutions are ready to serve and treat all the citizens who need it”.
The Prime Minister reminded that in July there were days when there were only one, two or three vacant beds in the resuscitation departments. "But we managed to overcome that situation, and in fact, we did not leave any citizen without medical care", he stressed.
Pashinyan also said that they cannot keep the country and the economy closed. "There was an interesting analysis: the countries that have gone through the strictest restrictions, achieved good results in terms of indicators, have the deepest economic problems", he stressed.
