The defense ministers of the SCO, CIS and CSTO member states agreed to expand cooperation in the fight against terrorism. The first joint military exercises will be held within the framework of "Caucasus 2020" military exercises, said Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu.
"At the end of September it was proposed to work out joint counter-terrorism tasks within the Caucasus 2020 strategic command-staff exercise", Shoigu said after a meeting of defense ministers.
According to him, in a joint communique the defense ministers prioritized the fight against terrorism and extremism.
It is not yet clear in what format the joint exercises will take place.
