The former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, former Finance Minister Gagik Khachatryan will continue to be in custody. Today judge of the General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan Artur Mkrtchyan rejected the lawyers' petition to change Khachatryan's detention.
Gagik Khachatryan is accused of abusing his official powers, embezzling large amounts of money, receiving large amounts of bribes, organizing official fraud and money laundering.
Gagik Khachatryan was arrested in 2019. The trial of his and his nephew Karen Khachatryan, the former head of the special department of the State Customs Committee, started on August 25 this year.
Khachatryan's sons Artyom and Gurgen Khachatryan were also charged in the criminal case and were declared wanted.
