On August 23, in Moscow, the RA Minister of Defense David Tonoyan met with the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Army General Sergey Shoigu, the RA Defense Ministry Spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan reported.
Issues related to the regional security situation and bilateral military cooperation were discussed during the meeting. The RA Minister of Defense informed his counterpart about the military-political situation in the region after the July hostilities, as well as the operative situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border and the line of contact between the Artsakh and Azerbaijani forces.
Davit Tonoyan stressed that the aggressive rhetoric of some states and the military steps taken are aimed at destabilizing and militarizing the regional situation.
In his turn, the Russian Defense Minister concidered it important the implementation of steps aimed at strengthening stability by all states.
Emphasizing the strategic allied nature of the Armenian-Russian relations, the ministers discussed and reached agreements on upcoming military cooperation.
