Armenian graves have been vandalized in Ankara, Istanbul, Van, in recent days also in Igdir. This information is also published in the Turkish media, presenting such crimes as a looting.
The cemetery of the former Armenian-populated village of Stanoz near Ankara, which is declared as a state protected area, has been destroyed several times, most recently on August 12. The slabs were first demolished, then the remains were removed and human bones were scattered.
Well-known politician in Turkey Murat Mihchi stated on this occasion. "It is normal that there is an Armenian cemetery everywhere, but we see that in many parts of Turkey the graves of Armenians have been looted and destroyed so much, as if there was no cemetery in those places and no Armenians lived there".
A number of Turkish media outlets have filmed the looted Armenian cemeteries in Ankara and elsewhere, noting that looters are constantly trying to find gold in Armenian cemeteries.
