The RA Ministry of Defense spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan presented details of Captain Ruben Sanamyan's exploits on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border during the July battles.
"By the Presidential Decree of August 18, 2020, through the mediation of the Prime Minister, Captain Ruben Sanamyan was awarded the Order of the Homeland, being awarded the highest title of National Hero of Armenia.
Captain Sanamyan, as an officer and commander, showed exceptional courage and selflessness in the defense and security of the homeland.
Captain Sanamyan skillfully led the personnel of the special reconnaissance group, personally encouraging the servicemen, setting individual tasks, organizing the repulse of the enemy's multiple attacks on the "Anvakh" combat position, causing significant losses to enemy's manpower, armaments and military equipment.
Not sparing his own life, together with the group's fighters, he carried out complex and dangerous engineering works on the outskirts of the position, obtained valuable documents, weapons, ammunition, a number of technical means and other data.
As a commander, Captain Sanamyan accurately analyzed the enemy's actions, assessed the situation, predicted possible developments, and kept the "Anvakh" combat position invincible through joint efforts with the personnel.
Biography
Ruben Razmik Sanamyan was born in 1976, September 22, in the town of Dilijan, Tavush region. 1995-1997 had Compulsory military service in one of the military units of the Defense Army frontline. In 2006 he joined the contract military service. Married. Has two children.
In 2012, Ruben Sanamyan was awarded the" Combat Cross "Order of the 2nd degree", Shushan Stepanyan said.
