The Former RA Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan has been appointed Chief Adviser to the Prime Minister on August 18.
Vagharshak Harutyunyan headed the Armenian Defense Ministry from June 1999 to May 2000. Robert Kocharyan on July 22, 2002 signed a decree, depriving him of the rank of lieutenant general. However, in August last year, Kocharyan's decree was declared invalid.
On August 24, 2019 the President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sargsyan signed a decree on the restoration of Vagharshak Harutyunyan's military rank with the mediation of the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
