According to statistics, in 2019 the share of mining industry in Armenia's GDP was 2.8%. 2 companies, represented in the top ten largest taxpayers of the tax year are from this sphere. The Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan wrote about it on his Facebook page.
"The impact of the mining industry in our country in terms of having a competitive economy, stimulating the investment sector, solving social problems and developing the region remains strong, but it presupposes a very cautious attitude.
Environmental management and Innovative mining programs should be based on the Government's citizen-centered, responsible mining policy, not create environmental and health conditions that will have irreversible consequences for our people and the environment in the region", the minister wrote.
