The Government convened a special sitting today. On the agenda is the issue of extension of the state of emergency declared in the Republic of Armenia on March 16, 2020.
At the beginning of the sitting, the Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan reported on the situation with the coronavirus in the country.
The Minister mentioned that out of 1710 tests we have 201 new cases, which fits the same logic. "That is, the number of cases recorded daily each following week will be approximately 50-100 lower than the number of cases recorded on the same day last week.
We have a real opportunity to reduce these numbers. We have a fairly light situation in the hospital system, both in terms of regular and resuscitation beds. We also have low numbers in terms of severe, extremely heavy patients, which still fluctuates within the range of 300. This trend is declining at a slower pace, as resuscitation patients lie in the intensive care unit for a very long time.
In conclusion, I can say that the phase of overcoming continues and our efforts to follow the rules are yielding results. We hope that the rate of decline will continue", said the Minister, adding that it will be difficult to reach zero per day, but keeping new cases within the range of 50-100 should probably become acceptable.
