Today the President Armen Sargsyan had a regular working meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the presidential residence.
Armen Sargsyan and Nikol Pashinyan discussed issues related to the current agenda of the country, current issues and development programs.
The President Armen Sargsyan, in particular, noted:
"Mr. Prime Minister, I am happy for our meeting. Of course, this is not an ordinary office meeting, it is in the spirit of the time, outdoors.
I think the problems we are facing at the moment are important. For months Armenia, along with other countries around the world, has been fighting the coronavirus. Every day, following the statistics, I am glad that the curve is already going down. I hope it will continue to go down. I agree with your statements that under no circumstances should we fall into euphoriain, because a large part of the population has not yet encountered the virus, and if it does, the result will be a return of the epidemic".
In his speech, the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in particular, said.
"Honorable Mr. President, thank you, I am happy for this meeting. Let me say that during this time we also had a long-distance meetings, discussions that were not covered due to the spirit of the time.
Yes, coronavirus is a big problem for our country. Looking back on what happened, we noticed at the end of April that despite the severe restrictions, we are able to keep those restrictions in place in the seen places, but the anti-epidemic processes take place behind the scenes, in the yards and at the entrances.
We recorded two things - that the restrictions did not bring us the desired result and the second - in April we lost 70,000 jobs.
Also, there was a tense regional situation. Despite the call of the UN Secretary General to keep a general ceasefire in the conditions of the coronavirus, the development of military rhetoric of the Azerbaijani side was visible to us: it was clear to me that the country could not meet the possible escalation, so to speak, in an asleep state.
The government formulated the main issue as follows: Health capacity must be developed so that no citizen is left without proper medical care. I can state that we solved that problem, very serious capacities were developed, we made big expenses from the state budget in order to acquire equipment, to expand, etc".
In connection with the events in Tavus, the President Sargsyan particularly mentioned:
"I completely agree with you that the attack of Azerbaijan can have no human moral explanation. When the whole world and we are fighting against one common enemy, the coronavirus, Azerbaijan decides to go on an adventure. For me, someone who has many years of experience and long follows Azerbaijani, Turkish, European and Russian policy, there are several factors that worry me.
First of all, the moral boundary that they crossed by going on such an adventure in the coronavirus.
My second concern is that Azerbaijan is trying to create the impression that Armenia is a threat to international infrastructure passing through Azerbaijan. This is absolute nonsense. These infrastructures have been in place for more than 20 years, and Armenia has never shown any intention to destroy them.
Their propaganda is aimed at presenting Armenia as an aggressor, which is giving them the opportunity to use their leitmotif to take aggressive steps tomorrow. I am proud to say again that our armed forces were at the highest level".
