During their visit to Lebanon the members of the Armenian delegation met with Reverend Mkrtich Karagyozyan, President of the Union of Armenian Evangelical Churches of the Middle East, and Paul Haydostyan, Rector of "Haigazian" University. The RA Ambassador to Lebanon Vahagn Atabekyan was present at the meeting.
Welcoming the guests, Mkrtich Karagyozyan stressed that it is a great honor to receive the Armenian delegation during these difficult days for Lebanon. "When I saw the humanitarian aid plane, named "Armenia", with Ararat in the background, I was sincerely excited", said Reverend Mkrtich Karagyozyan.
He presented the community situation before the explosion, the economic crisis in the country and its direct impact on the Armenian community. The Reverend said that the explosion had a great emotional and psychological impact on the Lebanese-Armenians.
During the meeting the RA High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan presented details about the other planes of the humanitarian mission and referred to the steps taken by the state towards the repatriation process. The High Commissioner particularly stressed the importance of establishment of a Repatriation Integration Center by the end of the year and the adoption of the Law on Repatriation, which is currently being finalized.
The members of the delegation also visited "Haigazian" University, witnessed the damage to the educational institution.
