The US House of Representatives has approved a bill that would require the United States to provide a written assessment of tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including over the status of the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
As reported by "Armenpress", the sitting of the committee was chaired by the Congressman Adam Schiff.
The assessment should include:
1) Defining the strategic interests of the United States and its partners in the Armenian-Azerbaijani region.
2) A description of all significant cases of use of force in and around the Nagorno-Karabakh region, as well as between Armenia and Azerbaijan, during the 2020 calendar year.
3) Assessmnet of the impact of US military assistance to Azerbaijan and Armenia on the basis of the regional balance of power and the likelihood of further use of military force.
4) Assessment the likelihood of any further use of force or potentially destabilizing activities in the region in the near and medium term.
