During the online signing ceremony of the Armenian-American Memorandum on Parliamentary Cooperation and Mutual Understanding at the US Embassy in Armenia, Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Affairs Frank Pallone touched upon the deepening of friendship between the two countries, the strengthening of economic and political ties, and the aggravation the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as well as Artsakh issue.
"The signing was possible today due to the advanced relations between the two parliaments and parliamentary friendship groups. I want to mention that this is in fact the beginning of more expanded relations between Armenia and the US, not only between the parliamentary friendship groups, but also between our legislative bodies and our countries. We have a lot in common, most of which came to light in the period following the Velvet Revolution, such as the democratic process and the rule of law.
We also seek to increase our economic and security functions. Of course, we focus on Covid-19, and the United States supports Armenia in this crisis, but I also want to emphasize that we are strongly against the aggression of Azerbaijan, which is taking place near the borders of Armenia these days. We want a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as a result of which Artsakh will remain Armenian, achieving international recognition", said Frank Pallone.
