At the beginning of today's government sitting, the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the epidemic situation in Armenia has significantly improved in the last 15 days.
"We have never had such a low number since June 11. Yesterday we had 259 new cases. We have had less than 400 daily cases for 6 days in a row, and the last time such a thing was registered on May 24. This means that we have a chance to break the backbone of the epidemicand it puts a special responsibility on each of us", he said, adding that anti-epidemic rules must be clearly observed everywhere, wearing masks, maintaining social distance, washing and disinfecting hands frequently.
Pashinyan reminded, that the process of distributing pensions on August 1 should be organized so that there are no problems, no queues and the anti-epidemic rules are clearly observed.
"There is no doubt that the improvement of this situation is the result of maintaining anti-epidemic rules and raising citizens awareness. As of today we had the peak on July 6, when the numbers were so high that they had a sobering significance for the society. But I want to point out that the cornerstone of this process is the mandatory wearing of masks.
We are convinced that it is the mandatory wearing of masks that makes other efforts more effective. I must ask you to be extremely careful during funerals, to observe the norms", said the Prime Minister.
Pashinyan stated that it is already clear that regular air transportation will not be resumed until the end of the tourist season. So one should rely on domestic tourism when planning summer vacations. And the inspection bodies should pay special attention to the observance of anti-epidemic rules in the recreation areas.
The Prime Minister noted that this result is also conditioned by more severe actions of the police, which, no matter how difficult it is, helps to solve the problem.
