Shushan Stepanyan, the spokesperson of the RA Ministry of Defense, stated that contract soldier Ashot Mikaelyan was fatally wounded by a sniper shot fired by the enemy at the combat position.
"Ashot Mikaelyan was on the border to defend the honor of the homeland. Glory to you, hero", the speaker said in a statement.
