At the July 10 sitting of the Security Council the new concept of the RA National Security Strategy was approved. A public discussion on the National Security Strategy was organized today. The Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan emphasized that the discussions on the document make it more substantial and give an opportunity to get acquainted with the text in more depth.
The Secretary of the Security Council, referring to the frequently asked question - why the word "Republic" is not next to the word "Artsakh" in the concept, said that there were large-scale discussions in the whole text about any word or wording.
"There are clear wordings about Artsakh, which are even higher in status. The strategy has a logic, we can say that we tried to put that logic in the logic of the classic strategy. We have tried to formulate the main interests of Armenia. One of the primary interests is the sovereignty, the territorial integrity of Armenia and the security of Artsakh.
We have given Artsakh the highest level of Armenia's interests, and together with ourterritorial integrity, our sovereignty, we consider the security of Artsakh one of the most important interests of Armenia", Grigoryan said.
He also noted that the strategy identifies possible military action by Azerbaijan as a primary threat, while Turkey is identified as a threat in the sense that it supports Azerbaijan.
