The US House of Representatives passed by a majority of votes the resolution on providing $ 1.4 million in humanitarian aid for demining in Artsakh, according to the official website of the Congress.
186 congressmen voted for the resolution, 170 against. $ 1.4 million will be provided HALO Trust to continue the demining works in Artsakh.
A few days ago a change introduced by Steve Cohen, Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Azerbaijan, which supported the cessation of funding for humanitarian demining in Artsakh, was not included in the agenda. The commission also removed from the discussion the amendment supporting the increase of aid to Armenia by $ 20 million.
The United States has been funding humanitarian programs in Artsakh since 1998. Aid to Artsakh has long been under attack of the Azerbaijani regime.
