The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan received the delegation led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia Sergey Kopirkin.
At the the meeting Minister Harutyunyan stated that the previous day he had visited schools and kindergartens in Tavush region, which had been damaged by enemy shelling. He stressed that the aggressive actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces, which target civilian facilities, in particular, educational institutions, are inadmissible and condemnable. The Minister also informed that last week letters with the same content were sent to international organizations.
Ambassador Kopirkin, agreeing with the Minister, stressed that schools and kindergartens in the conflict zone, as well as other civic institutions, can not be targeted.
Minister Harutyunyan also spoke about the importance of teaching the Armenian language as a compulsory subject in the Armenian-populated communities of the Russian Federation.
The officials of the ministry noted that the working group formed at the moment will work out the road map of the Armenian-Russian cooperation in the spheres of education, science and culture.
At the end of the meeting the parties discussed the agenda of the working visit of the Minister of Education and Science to the Russia this fall.
