Question. Can we say that the Karabakh settlement has been pushed into the background?
Anna Naghdalyan. Still in 2016 Azerbaijan dealt a heavy blow to the peace process, the consequences of which were not completely overcome. During the last two years we have registered clear positive changes. The rate of ceasefire violations was reduced, an agreement was reached to prepare the peoples for peace, the first step of which was the exchange of journalists.
In recent months the rhetoric of hatred by the Azerbaijani leadership - threats, belligerent statements, against the background of which the recent escalation took place, brought the peace process back to 2016, April situation.
Question. Will there be humanitarian exchanges in the future?
Anna Naghdalyan. Earlier, we reached an agreement to prepare the peoples for peace. Recent events, however (the aggressive statements of the Azerbaijani leadership) have shown that it is not the Azerbaijani authorities that should prepare the people for peace, but the Azerbaijani people should prepare their leadership for peace.
