The RA Minister of Education and Science Arayik Harutyunyan visited border communities of Tavush region. During the meeting with journalists at the Ijevan Information Center, the minister said that the possibility of starting classes in September is being discussed, and he has considered the condition of shelters in community educational institutions.
"Due to the coronavirus situation it was important to find out the situation of educational institutions in the border region. We were interested in how the schools and kindergartens are prepared from the security point of view, are there any shelters?. We saw that there are shelters in Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, Aygepar, Movses, Berd, they just need to be brought in proper condition. God forbid, if the enemy violates the ceasefire again, the children will be safe during military situations or shelling", the minister said.
Harutyunyan informed that the enemy had targeted educational institutions, buildings in a number of communities had been damaged. The Ministry of Education and Science has sent letters to international organizations, such as UNESCO.
He drew everyone's attention to the fact that Azerbaijan has violated a number of international conventions, such as the right to education and the right to life. The Minister called on all relevant international organizations to join the fight against this inadmissible situation.
