At the special sitting of the Government the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan referred to the incident on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
"Yesterday, July 12, the Azerbaijani forces carried out provocative actions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, attacking our border positions in the direction of Movses village, Tavush region. The provocative actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces are strongly condemned. They resumed this morning. With their resumption, the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan will bear all the responsibility for the unpredictable consequences of regional destabilization.
Of great concern is Turkey's approach to provoking regional instability, which is best reflected in the statement of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, in which the latter expresses unconditional support for Azerbaijan's actions, with an obvious and traditional anti-Armenian logic. This military incident did not occur in a vacuum.
For a long time now the Azerbaijani leadership has been trying to play the anti-Armenian card for their motives. It is possible that we are dealing with the situation when Baku is trying to divert attention from internal problems and push them to the backgrounde.
In this context the obvious contemptuous attitude towards human lives, including the lives of Azerbaijani soldiers, is striking, which is manifested in sending them to unpromising actions.
This is evidenced by the fact that Azerbaijan did not heed the call of the UN Secretary General to declare a global ceasefire during the pandemic. It turns out that the more the epidemic spreads in Azerbaijan, the more the socio-economic situation worsens, the more the anti-Armenian, belligerent rhetoric of the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan intensifies.
Instead of calling on its own people to abide by the rules of health security, the Azerbaijani leadership called for war actions. Anti-Armenianism seems to be the best way to fight the coronavirus.
Dear compatriots I assure you that no provocative action goes unanswered. I also call to express unconditional support to our armed forces, soldiers, military commanders, who are currently standing firmly in the defense of the homeland. They must have strong back, and ach of us is a part of that strong back.
I call on our compatriots to trust only official sources. During this period, the information confrontation of our society is one of the most important guarantees of the victory of the Armenian Army", said the Prime Minister.
Let us inform you that the Government has convened a special session today, the agenda of which is the issue of extending the term of the state of emergency announced on March 16.
