6-7 years ago when specialists climbed to the top of the Mother Cathedral to clear the domes of grass, they noticed that the building was in a state of emergency. The dome, the drum, the columns are damaged, the stones are separated.
A group of Armenian and foreign specialists studied and confirmed that the temple should be renovated. The project was also approved by UNESCO, as the Cathedral is included in the World Heritage List of that structure. Construction had already begun when they realized that the process would be extended.
The pandemic has slowed down the construction process of the temple a little. Though the work has been resumed since May but only outdoor work is being done. Due to pandemic donations also were delayed. Now the Sponsors have become active again.
