By the decision of the RA National Assembly Council, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports, undertook the leadership of the Armenia-Iran Friendship Group.
"Armenia-Iran fraternal relations have great historical weight. Today the economic component in the strong bilateral ties between our states is essentially great. Iran ranks 6th among Armenia's foreign trade partners. However, close educational, scientific and cultural cooperation between our countries can be also essential in these relations, for which history and the current friendship give a serious support. Of course, let's not forget about the Armenian community of Iran, which is one of the richest centers of the Armenian Diaspora and is best represented in the Iranian parliament", Mkhitar Hayrapetyan said at the end of the sitting.
Mkhitar Hayrapetyan also heads the Armenia-Cyprus Interparliamentary Commission, as well as the Armenia-Greece Friendship Group.
