Monopoly in Armenia has eased in the oil market since 2018. At today's sitting of the Government the issue of approving the proposal to sign the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Trade and Economic Cooperation in the Field of Petroleum Products import was discussed.
The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan noted that the necessity of concluding the agreement is conditioned by the incrased interest of cooperation between Armenia and Kazakhstan in the sphere of delivery of oil products.
"Delivery of goods from Kazakhstan to Armenia which are encluded in the EEU Group of FEA PL-27 (Foreign Economic Activity Product List) is exempt from customs duties in accordance with the previously agreed list and quantities of the EEU”, Papikyan said.
The Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan added that as a result of about 1.5 years of negotiations the agreement will provide an opportunity to import Kazakh fuel on better terms, which means that there will be some competition in the fuel market.
The Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said - No matter how much monopolies in Armenia have softened in the oil market since 2018, it does not mean that they have disappeared.
