The Criminal Court of Appeal postponed the hearing of the complaints of the Prosecutor's Office and lawyers about the pretrial detention of Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia parliamentary faction.
Tsarukyan's lawyer Yerem Sargsyan told reporters that their appeal which had been sent by mail had not yet been received. The next court hearing is scheduled for July 7.
To remind - the NSS initiated a criminal case on the fact of distributing electoral bribes in favor of the "Tsarukyan" bloc in 2017 parliamentary elections. After receiving the consent of the National Assembly on June 16 it officially accused the head of the Prosperous Armenia faction.
On June 21, the Yervan Court of First Instance rejected the motion of the preliminary investigation body to choose detention as a measure of restraint against Tsarukyan.
On June 23, the prosecutor's office filed an appeal against the court's decision, demanding Tsarukyan to be arrested. In their turn Tsarukyan's lawyers also filed an appeal.
